Connect to a Client Manager Server

Updated: 2024-10-11

Before connecting to a Client Manager server, ensure that it is properly set up on another computer within your office. Learn how to do this in the Set Up a Client Manager Server help topic.

  1. The first time you run the Client Manager, either by searching or clicking on the Quick Searches sidebar, it looks for any available Client Manager servers in your office. Read the First-Time Client Manager Setup help topic for more information.
  2. If you don’t see the available servers when you try searching, open Client Manager Options. On the right side of the dialog box, click the Discover servers on your network link.
    Screen Capture: Discover servers
  3. Check Connect using the server’s IP address, if required. This may be necessary if the Client Manager server is on a different Windows domain.
  4. Click the Connect button to connect to a server.
  5. If TaxCycle is unable to discover your server and you know its location, click the enter it here link to enter the Server Name or IP address.

Where to Save Your Files

Remember to save your tax returns to whatever folder the Client Manager server is monitoring (most likely on the same computer as the server you just connected to). If you save your returns to your local computer, they will not appear in the Client Manager. Learn more in Client Folders.
