RESOLVED: Attempting to File Slips May Result in CRA "503 Error"

We are aware of an issue where attempting to file slips may result in a CRA “503 error.” This is due to a URL change on the Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) website.

Workaround

  1. Click the Internet file transfer application - Disclaimer link on the 503 error page.
Screen Capture: Click the link on the 503 page
  2. Click I agree to agree to the terms of use at the bottom of the page.
Screen Capture: Agree to the terms
  3. Enter your Account number and Web access code (WAC), then click Sign in. Make sure the transmitter number entered on the Engagement worksheet matches the transmitter number used to sign in and transmit the return, as the CRA will validate the T619 transmitter information in the XML file to ensure it matches the sign-in information.
    Screen Capture: Sign in
  4. Find the XML file in the Transmit window and upload your file. Note that the XML file is created and added to the AppData folder once you start the transmission process in TaxCycle. Windows automatically deletes the file if you cancel the transmission attempt. If your AppData folder is hidden by default, you will need to make it visible (see “View hidden files and folders in Windows”), or navigate to it manually by copying the XML file location to your clipboard and pasting it in the file explorer address bar. Important! When copying the XML file path, make sure to remove the .xml file name before pasting it (For example, paste only C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Trilogy\Temp). This will allow you to see the XML file in the folder.
Screen Capture: Copy the XML file location
  5. Once the transmission completes, the Confirmation of receipt displays on screen. This confirms the file was received by the CRA. The CRA will perform validations on the data in the file at a later stage. Once the validations are complete, they will send a notification to the email address entered on the T619 form. Click the Print/Save link if you wish to retain a copy.
  6. This confirmation page also contains the Submission number. TaxCycle will attempt to insert this number in the field on the left of the dialog box. If it cannot, copy and paste the number into the field.
  7. Click the Record submission and close button to close the window.
Screen Capture: Record submission and close
